Micrographics

Microfiche Scanning Services complement our wide range of document conversion services. microMEDIA has been performing digital Microfiche conversions for over 25 years, constantly upgrading our fiche scanners with the newest technologies.  Our fiche laboratory converted hundreds of millions of images from microfilm, microfiche and aperture cards.

No matter how you spell it - fishe, feesh, feash or fiche, the French word for minature cards have been our specialty for more than 25 years. We're experts at all types of film and slide digitizing. See a sample of image quality from NOW Magazine.

Microfiche scanning

Microfiche conversion is similar to microfilm except the scan component.  Since film frames are individually captured, this portion of the conversion requires considerably more time than roll film.

There are a wide variety of fiche sizes and formats, some are 4" X 6", other 105mm X 148mm and still others IBM-Card size. Within the media itself, reduction ratios vary from 12X to 72X (there's even a specialty item with higher reduction). We configure our scanners to properly convert each type of microfiche, including "fiche" that have sleeves for cut rows of microfilm called "microfilm jackets"

We can convert "jackets" at various reduction ratios in both simplex and duplex modes.  Multiple reduction ratios and film sizes can even exist on one fiche.

We process Computer Output Microfiche (COM) containing standardized grids including ultra high reduction ratios.
We process large single-image fiche containing maps or other large graphic images in grayscale, color or black and white.

Onsite Services

All of our microfiche scanning services are available as digital conversions at client sites.

Since micrographic conversion equipment is complex and setting up a mini-network at a client's location requires considerable resources, the cost of conversions onsite are obviously higher than those converted at microMEDIA in New York.
