Professional Conversion Services

Our Aperture Card Scanning and indexing technicians quality and experience is unmatched in the marketplace.  We additionally convert microfilm, microfiche and, of course, all types of paper-based materials including engineering drawings.

microMEDIA's experience with Aperture Card conversion extends back to the late 1970's. Even before PCs were announced, we had a full complement of microfilm cameras for smalland large drawings, a professional film processing laboratory onsite, punched card equipment to enter Hollerith Codes and extensive quality control procedures. We generated hundreds of thousands of new cards.

We started converting micrographics media to electronic formats in 1986, first with microfiche then microfilm.  Today we provide:

  • 24 hour X 7 day Aperture Card Scanning
  • Automated Hollerith Code Indexing
  • Manual Indexing of additional data from drawings
  • Indexing of non-punched cards
  • Raster to vector conversions
  • Conversions at microMEDIA or onsite
  • Additional indexing at microMEDIA, onsite or offshore from transmitted images
  • Multi-level quality control steps
  • Formatting to client requirements
  • Data transmitted or delivered in CD / DVD
  • Secure web hosting of client data

There are multiple steps involved in Aperture Card scanning similar to Microfilm Scanning.

Drawings or other records kept in aperture cards are scanned on dedicated high speed equipment capable of up to 400dpi resolution.

Manual indexing is not necessary if keypunched (Hollerith) index information is available.

The punches are captured concurrently with the scanning. Cards that have typed or handwritten identifying information are keyed manually.
